Out Of Place
Out of Place is a photographic series about how human desires to be engaged in certain activities drive people to disregard the environment that they find themselves in. Therefore people utilize the space in a way that society with the influence of the culture regard as inappropriate. The underlying message of the project is that cultural upbringing influences our notion of what is an appropriate use of the space.
Through conversations with new acquaintances from different cultures, I realized cultural upbringing has everything to do with what we believe is appropriate. I decided then to take this idea of being “out of place” to absurd proportions in order to deliver the main message with humor.
